2019 Eden Valley
Shiraz
$55/bottle
Menglers Hill – Hampton vineyard
Latitude: 34⁰32’06”S Longitude: 139⁰02’46”E
Planted in 1982 to the BVRC30 clone this Shiraz thrives on a silty sandy loam over red ironstone clay with schist at depth. At an altitude of 450m, a north-south row orientation and south facing slope this block provides the finesse you expect from Eden Valley with a surprising level of power.
Fruit was harvested in the cool of the morning and delivered to the winery where it was destemmed into an open top fermenter. After thirteen days on skins the wine was basket pressed before overnight settling and racking to seasoned French oak. Ten months maturation in oak before blending and bottling in January 2019.
107 cases produced
