2020 Riverland



This single vineyard is located at Paringa is South Australia’s Riverland. A beautiful 40-year-old vineyard planted on sandy loam. Tended with meticulous attention to detail including hand-pruning and hand-picking.

Mataro can be a tricky variety to make and the key to a beautifully balanced Mataro is to get the picking time right. Constant sampling in the vineyard, weeks and then days leading up to harvest, allowed us to harvest at optimal ripeness to ensure balance of colour, tannin and flavour intensity. The fruit was harvested in the cool of the night to retain freshness and immediately brought to our winery in Barossa Valley. The wine was left on skins for several weeks to build tannin and complexity.

Nose– White pepper and mint with a hint of cured meats.
Palate– Great structure, medium full bodies, the palate mirrors the nose with great length and finish.
