2023 Barossa Valley Mataro Rosé

Vineyard

Nestled at the cool Southern end of the Barossa Valley, near the boundary of the Adelaide Hills, is Aldo’s Vineyard. This single vineyard is planted on a deep silty grey loam overlaying a yellow clay and consistently produces Mataro with complex spice and aromatic intensity.

Winemaking

The Mataro was hand-harvested on the 27th March 2023 and whole bunch pressed directly to seasoned oak. The wine was fermented and matured in this oak on full solids.  After 6 months the wine was blended in stainless steel and filtered in time for bottling in early October 2023.

Nose – Strawberries, cumin seed, sage leaf, almonds

Palate – Complex, textured Rose with a lovely acid balance and a finish that is both creamy and dry.
